Course Description:

In this course, we’ll deepen our understanding of human anatomy and kinesiology in relationship to the practice and teaching of yoga asana. You will learn the architecture and movement principles of the major joints and spine, develop your observation skills to assess postural imbalances, and explore ways to effectively adapt the practice for common injuries and postural imbalances to facilitate safe practice for yourself and your students.

March 16: Flesh + Bones | types of tissue & joints

April 27: Spine + Trunk

June 1: Lower extremity

July 13: Upper extremity

August 24: Kinesiology + Teaching applications

September 14: Kinesiology + Teaching applications

There is required reading and writing for this course. All course work must be completed to apply for CEU’s from Yoga Alliance.

Yoga Anatomy with Ada Lusardi

Ada Lusardi, ERYT 500 marries the heart and science of yoga by offering nuanced and precise teaching with warmth and humor. Through the use of compassionate and clear direction, intelligent sequencing, and skillful hands-on adjustments, Ada’s teachings challenge and refine one’s yoga practice, regardless of age or ability. A self-professed “anatomy geek,” she leads classes, trainings and retreats throughout California’s Bay area and around the country. She is a graduate, and faculty member, of The Berkeley Yoga Room’s Advanced Studies Program, a long time student of Donald Moyer and Mary Lou Weprin, and a perennial student of yoga and life.
