Power Vinyasa

Power Vinyasa

A challenging and dynamic Vinyasa Flow class based on the Ashtanga, Bikram and Baptiste Power Yoga traditions. This vigorous and energizing practice focuses on building strength, serenity, flexibility and balance, emphasizing the linking of breath with movement. Mental clarity, self-awareness, concentration and focus are just some of the positive benefits. Room is heated to between 85 and 90 degrees, so come prepared to sweat! Although this class can be strenuous, it is appropriate for beginners.

Hatha

Hatha

This is a yoga class which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques(pranayama), and meditation techniques(dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. The asanas work to make the spine supple, the core strong and supple and to promote circulation in the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures strengthen and stretch the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga vinyasa is rooted in the classical ashtanga vinyasa system and includes traditional opening and closing chants. Based on the ashtanga primary series – “yoga chikitsa” translated “yoga therapy” – with some variations. Emphasis is paid to bandhas (energy valves), dristi (eye gaze) and ujjayi pranayama (“victorious” breath). Through this asana practice we cleanse the nadis – the energy channels in the body, develop strength, flexibility, agility, and most importantly a clear, calm and focused mind.

A class especially designed to support women through the phases of pregnancy, birthing and post-delivery by using gentle postures to create ease, build strength, and deepen connection with expectant mother and baby. All levels welcome, but if you are new to yoga, it is best to check with your doctor before beginning. Post-natal classes, babies are welcome.

Yin

Yin

Yin Yoga contains the ancient, and some say original, form of asana practice. The sages who pioneered the path of yoga used asanas to strengthen the body, so that they could sit for long periods in contemplative meditation. If you have ever sat for a long time with legs crossed, you know the hips and lower back need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in the connective tissues and the joints. These are the deep yin tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang tissues of muscles and skin. Yin Yoga opens up these deep, dense, rarely touched areas.

Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic system of practicing asanas (poses). Yoga postures flow in a logical sequence. Each position complements those that precede and follow. This practice focuses on the synchronization of breath & the continuous flow of movement. Vinyasa is a strong practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and mental focus. This class can be strenuous; may be appropriate for beginners.

Heart Flow

Heart Flow

Heart Flow is one of the branches of the ancient tree of Hatha Yoga. It combines breath and both flowing and static movement with the intention to reconnect mind, emotions and body. Inspired by the fluidity of Surya namaskar and vinyasa, Heart Flow becomes a form of dance in which we interweave the Sun and the Moon energies with conscious breathing. The deeper intention of the practice is to awaken the compassionate energy within the heart.

Interested in yoga, but unsure where to start? All levels are welcome; but this class is especially appropriate for beginners.

In this class, you will explore some of the basic postures and breathing techniques that make up the practice of Hatha yoga. Students will learn about the basics of proper alignment and technique. Emphasis will be placed on core strength, flexibility and balance, as well as concentration and breath control. This class is based on physical postures (asanas), deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to the body.

No yoga experience necessary, simply bring a willingness to move and play.

Restorative

Restorative

Restorative is a form of gentle yoga with passive restorative postures to open the body, quiet the mind and move into a deep sense of relaxation. A meditative time to cultivate awareness of body breath and mind, this class is recommended for those experiencing stress, recovering from injury or illness, and anyone seeking a gentle class to unwind, relax and renew.

This class is appropriate for beginners.

Post Natal

Post Natal

Post Natal classes provide a place to relax and unwind and allow new moms to reconnect with themselves in the presence of their newborn child. The practice focuses on yoga postures and movements that develop flexibility, muscle tone, and strength with ease and healthy alignment.

Baby holders are available during class.

Kundalini

Kundalini

Kundalini, “the yoga of awareness,” opens your heart, builds strength and releases the energy located at the base of your spine. Each teacher will bring their own experience to the practice — some much more traditional than others — but Kundalini is without a doubt one of the more spiritual styles of yoga. Kundalini yoga focuses on breath and movement and challenges its students both physically and mentally.

Mindful Vinyasa

Mindful vinyasa is an energizing and vigorous style of yoga which consists of a continuous series of flowing postures linked together with breath. This class integrates meditation and mindfulness practice with classical yoga asana, encouraging heightened awareness of breath and body in order to guide one’s attention to the present moment. An emphasis is placed on self knowledge and self care, as students are guided to listen and respond skillfully to the wisdom of their own body. Mindful vinyasa blends the strong alignment traditions of BKS Iyengar, with a graceful heart opening attitude and the flowing sequences of Vinyasa yoga.

Gentle Yoga

Iyengar

Iyengar

These classes are for those new to yoga or who want to review basic foundational postures. Classes will evolve towards a safe and strong practice including inversions and relaxation.  Concept will include essential and foundational postures Focusing on standing and sitting poses, forward bends, twists and halasana w/ variations. Other classes will focus on back bends and shoulder stand w/ variations restorative postures and breath awareness.

Deep Flow

Deep Flow

Deep Flow is a sophisticated sequence, incorporating various aspects of asana practices, which bring students in touch with sensation and the energetic body of practice. It can incorporate elements of Yin, Shadow, Vinyasa, Bihar, and Iyengar yoga, eliciting profound experiences for the practitioners. It can range from rich restorative to intense strengthening sequences and back, allowing students to be mindful of their journey. Deep Flow also uses the Ayurvedic principle of adapting classes based on seasons and time of the day. Students will build both mental and physical strength and flexibility.

This self-care focused class addresses hard to access, underused and overused parts of the body by combining self-myofascial massage with therapeutic massage balls, foam rollers, and yin yoga postures. Class will also include breath work and guided relaxation. All designed to leave you feeling lighter, longer, and more at ease.
