Power Vinyasa

Power Vinyasa

A challenging and dynamic Vinyasa Flow class based on the Ashtanga, Bikram and Baptiste Power Yoga traditions. This vigorous and energizing practice focuses on building strength, serenity, flexibility and balance, emphasizing the linking of breath with movement. Mental clarity, self-awareness, concentration and focus are just some of the positive benefits. Room is heated to between 85 and 90 degrees, so come prepared to sweat! Although this class can be strenuous, it is appropriate for beginners.

This class welcomes students of all levels. Nia is a movement practice that integrates Eastern and Western wisdom, including inspiration from the martial arts, dance arts, and the healing arts. Combining movements from Tai Chi, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Jazz, Modern Dance as well as Yoga, Nia delivers a balanced cardiovascular, strengthening and toning workout. Practiced barefoot, Nia’s eclectic mixture of music and movement offers a magical and joyful atmosphere to develop self-healing and awareness of mind and body.

Hatha

This is a yoga class which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques(pranayama), and meditation techniques(dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. The asanas work to make the spine supple, the core strong and supple and to promote circulation in the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures strengthen and stretch the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

Anusara

Anusara classes blend a spiritual context to awaken and celebrate the heart with the Universal Principles of Alignment, which bring the body toward its optimal muscular, skeletal, and energetic blueprint. This class is appropriate for beginners.

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga Vinyasa

Ashtanga vinyasa is rooted in the classical ashtanga vinyasa system and includes traditional opening and closing chants. Based on the ashtanga primary series – “yoga chikitsa” translated “yoga therapy” – with some variations. Emphasis is paid to bandhas (energy valves), dristi (eye gaze) and ujjayi pranayama (“victorious” breath). Through this asana practice we cleanse the nadis – the energy channels in the body, develop strength, flexibility, agility, and most importantly a clear, calm and focused mind.

Prenatal

A class especially designed to support women through the phases of pregnancy, birthing and post-delivery by using gentle postures to create ease, build strength, and deepen connection with expectant mother and baby. All levels welcome, but if you are new to yoga, it is best to check with your doctor before beginning. Post-natal classes, babies are welcome.

Yin

Yin

Yin Yoga contains the ancient, and some say original, form of asana practice. The sages who pioneered the path of yoga used asanas to strengthen the body, so that they could sit for long periods in contemplative meditation. If you have ever sat for a long time with legs crossed, you know the hips and lower back need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in the connective tissues and the joints. These are the deep yin tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang tissues of muscles and skin. Yin Yoga opens up these deep, dense, rarely touched areas.

Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic system of practicing asanas (poses). Yoga postures flow in a logical sequence. Each position complements those that precede and follow. This practice focuses on the synchronization of breath & the continuous flow of movement. Vinyasa is a strong practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and mental focus. This class can be strenuous; may be appropriate for beginners.

This practice offers detailed cues to guide your body to wake organically by encouraging more effective communication with your own body. Combining breath with movement, the class helps you gain strength, flexibility and awareness. Focusing on building core connection and strength provides a deep; physical, emotional and spiritual practice. Based on Forrest Yoga, the sequences vary and consist of poses that address modern day ailments including; back pain, carpel tunnel, tightness and injuries. This class is suitable for both the new student and the advanced yogi to practice together.

Trained as a Forrest Yoga teacher under Ana Forrest, Aviva is fascinated with the body’s ability to heal and transform. Her teaching focuses on helping others experience this evolution in themselves. She will guide you into a deeper connection with your body through a practice that is intense-yet-playful. Heart Flow is one of the branches of the ancient tree of Hatha Yoga. It combines breath and both flowing and static movement with the intention to reconnect mind, emotions and body. Inspired by the fluidity of Surya namaskar and vinyasa, Heart Flow becomes a form of dance in which we interweave the Sun and the Moon energies with conscious breathing. The deeper intention of the practice is to awaken the compassionate energy within the heart.

Interested in yoga, but unsure where to start? All levels are welcome; but this class is especially appropriate for beginners.

In this class, you will explore some of the basic postures and breathing techniques that make up the practice of Hatha yoga. Students will learn about the basics of proper alignment and technique. Emphasis will be placed on core strength, flexibility and balance, as well as concentration and breath control. This class is based on physical postures (asanas), deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to the body.

No yoga experience necessary, simply bring a willingness to move and play.

Candlelight Flow is an active, flowing practice that emphasizes meditative, breath-led movement and encourages a strong inward focus. The practice ends with time for some yin or restorative poses, soothing postures held for longer periods of time, and finally an extended final relaxation, leaving you balanced and relaxed.

Restorative is a form of gentle yoga with passive restorative postures to open the body, quiet the mind and move into a deep sense of relaxation. A meditative time to cultivate awareness of body breath and mind, this class is recommended for those experiencing stress, recovering from injury or illness, and anyone seeking a gentle class to unwind, relax and renew.

QiGong is a self-healing system that aims to balance and stimulate Qi, the life force of the body in order to promote health, calm the mind and increase spiritual awareness. It is a synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism, martial arts, and traditional Chinese medicine. Because QiGong has diverse origins and numerous objectives, hundreds of styles have organically evolved over time. However, the predominant objective of most QiGong styles is to enhance physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being through mental concentration, breathing, movement, body position, relaxation, and philosophy.

Post Natal

Post Natal classes provide a place to relax and unwind and allow new moms to reconnect with themselves in the presence of their newborn child. The practice focuses on yoga postures and movements that develop flexibility, muscle tone, and strength with ease and healthy alignment.

Kundalini, “the yoga of awareness,” opens your heart, builds strength and releases the energy located at the base of your spine. Each teacher will bring their own experience to the practice — some much more traditional than others — but Kundalini is without a doubt one of the more spiritual styles of yoga. Kundalini yoga focuses on breath and movement and challenges its students both physically and mentally.

Mindful vinyasa is an energizing and vigorous style of yoga which consists of a continuous series of flowing postures linked together with breath. This class integrates meditation and mindfulness practice with classical yoga asana, encouraging heightened awareness of breath and body in order to guide one’s attention to the present moment. An emphasis is placed on self knowledge and self care, as students are guided to listen and respond skillfully to the wisdom of their own body. Mindful vinyasa blends the strong alignment traditions of BKS Iyengar, with a graceful heart opening attitude and the flowing sequences of Vinyasa yoga.

These classes are for those new to yoga or who want to review basic foundational postures. Classes will evolve towards a safe and strong practice including inversions and relaxation.  Concept will include essential and foundational postures Focusing on standing and sitting poses, forward bends, twists and halasana w/ variations. Other classes will focus on back bends and shoulder stand w/ variations restorative postures and breath awareness.

Deep Flow

Deep Flow

Deep Flow is a sophisticated sequence, incorporating various aspects of asana practices, which bring students in touch with sensation and the energetic body of practice. It can incorporate elements of Yin, Shadow, Vinyasa, Bihar, and Iyengar yoga, eliciting profound experiences for the practitioners. It can range from rich restorative to intense strengthening sequences and back, allowing students to be mindful of their journey. Deep Flow also uses the Ayurvedic principle of adapting classes based on seasons and time of the day. Students will build both mental and physical strength and flexibility.

Kirtan

Kirtan is a joyful practice that involves call-and-response singing and chanting, oftentimes with musical accompaniment such as the harmonium or tabla. There is no cost to participate!

KiVo (Kinetic Voice)

KiVo (Kinetic Voice)

KiVo (Kinetic Voice) blends vocals, dance and rhythm and draws upon Yogic and Indigenous philosophy, vocals and movement forms. You will chant, tone, dance, move and shake creating a circle with others that work in unison, counterpoint and independently. Using structure and form, improv and exploration, KiVo encourages you to explore the power of your voice and body. Taught by Lis Addison, Composer, Vocalist, Dancer and Founder of KiVo.
